The E-N details a fight fixin' to start over a bar across the street from an elementary school. The NEISD and several parents have filed objections with TABC asking the liquor license not be granted. City Councilman Kevin Wolff summarized the argument this way:
"At the end of the day, I've got a whole lot of neighbors, mothers, fathers of kids, who say, you know, 'Bad idea,'
Mr. Wolff, that's not a reason. That's a conclusion. WHY is it a bad idea? Are 4th graders going to be taking field trips there? School zones are 2-4 pm in the afternoon, which is not exactly "Happy Hour". So, what exactly is the problem? It's just a "bad idea". There has to be something other than "bad idea" that was communicated to the TABC.
I guess it's just the typical NIMBY argument that North Side residents and their elected officials have been making forever.
