On the heels of Ted Nugent's Stars 'n' Bars inspired performance at Rick Perry's inaugural ball, another Republican in Austin has chosen to embrace the racist past.
Jerry Patterson, the Land Commissioner (and Aggie, go figure) has accepted a donation from the Descendents of Confederate Veterans. He also downplayed Nugent's antics.
These guys just don't get it. The Confederate history of Texas is nothing to celebrate. Just like the Germans don't celebrate the Nazi years, we shouldn't act like the Confederacy is something to be proud of.
