Toy gun causes lockdown

Okay, the E-N reports that a school was locked down and a student will be disciplined for bringing a TOY GUN to school.

Are you kidding me? A toy gun? And of course the article makes the obligatory mention of Virginia Tech.

A toy gun? Give me a break. Next they're going to expel kids for pointing their finger and saying "bang" during recess.

I blame the media. The coverage of the VT shooting, and the post 9/11 fear-mongering in general, has made people afraid of lite-brite cartoons and toy guns.

Slow news week

Sorry for the lack of posts but not much has happened in the last week. I will also apologize in advance for a lack of posts from February 21-March 3. The San Antonian will be taking the New Mexico Bar Exam on February 27 & 28 and will not be available to post. Regular posting will resume on or about March 3.

On a personal note any delusions I had about ever returning to grad school for that MBA I've always wanted have been thoroughly crushed by the absolute sucktitude of having to study again. What pathetic study habits I had before graduating from law school in 2002 are now completely atrophied. If I pass this exam I will have to rethink the whole atheism thing.
